Governor names John Myers Acting Director of West Virginia Lottery

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (October 30, 2015) – Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin today announced the appointment of John Myers as Acting Director of the West Virginia Lottery, effective November 1.  Myers fills the vacancy created by the retirement of John Musgrave.

“I am incredibly appreciative of the work done by John Musgrave over the years,” Gov. Tomblin said. “John Myers has worked closely with John Musgrave and will provide leadership and stability to the agency moving forward.”

A graduate of The Ohio State University, Myers has served as assistant director of the West Virginia Lottery since May 2008. Prior to that he was the manager of corporate administration for Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia and worked for American Electric Power for 17 years.

“I appreciate Gov. Tomblin’s confidence in me and look forward to serving in this new role,” Myers said. “We take our regulatory responsibilities very seriously and also do our best to generate revenue for the state of West Virginia to support important education, senior and tourism programs.”

Before his retirement this month, Musgrave had served as Lottery Director for more than 19 years.
