St. Albans Woman Wins $50,000

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that Violet Clevinger of St. Albans has won $50,000 playing the West Virginia Lottery’s $5 instant game Joker Mania.

Clevinger purchased the luck ticket at the One Stop #102 in St. Albans and says she could not believe her eyes when she scratched off the winning amount.

“I scratched it off right there in the store and started from the bottom of the ticket,” Clevinger said. “The $50,000 amount was the first thing I saw and I quit. It was unbelievable. My legs turned to jelly right there.”

Clevinger, who plays lottery games regularly, says she is not going to spend her winnings on a big ticket item, rather save it for her everyday needs.

“I’m not going to go buy a car or go on an expensive trip or anything like that. I’m going to pay some bills and save it for what I need,” Clevinger said.
