7/7/2016
CHARLESTON, W.Va. – A lottery ticket that matched five numbers from Wednesday’s Powerball® drawing and is worth $1 million was sold at the East Park Mart in Fairmont.
The numbers drawn for the July 6, 2016, Powerball drawing were 2-24-31-57-66 and the Powerball was 18. The ticket sold in Fairmont was one of only three in the nation to match five numbers from Wednesday’s drawing. The other million-dollar tickets were both sold in California. All three tickets matched all five white ball numbers and missed only the Powerball number.
Should you have possession of this ticket, the West Virginia Lottery encourages you to sign the back of the ticket immediately, keep it in a safe place, and call the Lottery at 304-558-0500 (between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday) for further instructions on how to claim.
No one matched all six numbers so the Powerball jackpot now stands at an estimated $288 million for Saturday’s drawing.
This is the second $1 million Powerball ticket to be sold in West Virginia in the last 12 days. Sam and Barb Ratliff of Elkview just claimed their $1 million prize this week from a ticket they purchased for the June 25 Powerball drawing in Beckley.
In addition to the current Powerball jackpot, the popular Mega Millions game currently has its third highest jackpot ever at $508 million and the next Mega Millions drawing is set for Friday.
