North Carolina Resident Claims $250,000 Mega Millions Prize

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that Patricia Hewitt of Statesville, N.C., has claimed a $250,000 Mega Millions® prize for matching five numbers from the July 27, 2012 drawing.

Hewitt was visiting her fiancé, who currently resides in West Virginia and works in the natural gas industry, when they purchased the ticket. The couple frequently plays the lottery and purchased their winning ticket at the Winfield Convenience Store in Fairmont.

“We've never won anything like this before,” Hewitt said. “We could not believe it!”

Hewitt works in a coffee shop and plans to use part of her winnings to pay bills and buy a new car.
