MONROE COUNTY RESIDENT WINS $25,000; ESPECIALLY LUCKY SET OF NUMBERS

Frances Hendricks, 65, of Sinks Grove in Monroe County, is the latest West Virginia Lottery player to claim a $25,000 top prize from Cash25.

Lottery Director John Musgrave said the drawing was held Sept. 14. The ticket was purchased from Galford’s Country Store in Sinks Grove.

Married with four grown children and five grandchildren, Hendricks said she and her husband thought they were dreaming after watching the televised drawing. “The night before we used the same numbers and matched four of them for $10; somehow we thought we were confused when those four plus the other two were matched for the big prize the very next night. When these things happen, you tend to doubt yourself.”

Hendricks said she picked her own numbers, but did so at random. “We use them all the time.”
Hendricks said she plans to put her prize into savings.

Asked if she is retired, the winner laughed. “My husband is retired from a paper mill in Virginia, but I’ve always been a domestic goddess. Winning this prize rather substantiates that household position.”
