Lottery Retailers Give To Those In Need; Food Collections Taken On November 10

Nearly 600 West Virginia Lottery retailers statewide have again turned their sights toward helping neighbors.

“It’s that time of year when their focus is more on the community than selling a product,” Lottery Director John Musgrave said.

Musgrave said the Lottery has sponsored the one-day promotion for five years, providing 200 promotional instant tickets to each participating retailer.

“Retailers will give a ticket to those bringing in non-perishable items for distribution to a local charity, but only as long as ticket supplies last on Oct. 10.”

He noted that in years past, many local citizens took food to retailers, regardless of whether there were any remaining promotional tickets.

“Each participating retailer picks the local charity or charities for donations; those donating have big hearts and are generally motivated by giving more than receiving.”
