Lottery Announces First Winners Of Mega Monopoly Drawings

West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave today announced that the first-place winner in the Lottery’s Mega Monopoly™ drawing was Tom Muncy, 66, of Oak Hill.

Retired with four grown children and four grandchildren, Muncy won $5,000 as the first winner drawn; he won $40,000 last year playing the instant game Feeling Lucky. Muncy said most of last year’s prize “went to the kids,” while this time around, “it will help pay for a trip to Florida that my wife and I are taking next week.”

Placing second and winning $2,500 was Pam Ellison of Rockview; winning $1,000 each were Kathy Bryant of Chapmanville and Rebecca Holbert of Bridgeport.

Musgrave said subsequent drawings would be held Oct. 14 and Nov. 18; a $150,000 grand prize drawing is scheduled for Dec. 16.

While winning entries from previous drawings will be discarded, Musgrave said all non-winning tickets would be included in the grand prize drawing.
