Elizabeth Resident Claims $200,000 Powerball Prize; Rainelle Resident Claims $25,000 Cash25 Prize

Helping Rick Jones celebrate his $200,000 Powerball prize in Charleston were two of the 57-year old grandfather’s four grandchildren. The ticket was purchased at 7Eleven in Mineral Wells, according to Lottery Director John Musgrave.

Unemployed since 2005, Jones said the prize could not have been timelier. “I’ve been without work ever since a local manufacturing company went out of business and my wife and I are in the process of selling our big house in the country to downsize into a new, pre-fab modular home.”

Jones said he won three other lottery prizes several years ago. “I won a $2700 Daily4 prize and thought I’d hit the jackpot, then there were two $700 prizes a few years before that.”

In addition to the prize awarded to Jones, Musgrave said Brenda Smailes of Rainelle claimed a $25,000 prize on August 10. He said the lucky Cash25 ticket was purchased in Rainelle at Go Mart for the drawing held July 6.
