Disabled Coal Miner Wins $25,000 Lottery Prize

Roger Miller, who plans to celebrate turning 63 on Christmas Day, said the West Virginia Lottery’s $25,000 Cash25 prize may be the best birthday gift he has ever received.

“Seems like I’ve always gotten one gift for both Christmas and birthday. This is both rolled into one, but I can’t complain a bit.”

The Anawalt disabled miner and his wife have three grown children and three grandchildren.

Asked how he plans to spend his prize, Miller said the bank will benefit most. “I’m going to pay off my truck and four-wheeler. Except for a bit for the grandchildren, that’ll about do it.”

Lottery Director John Musgrave said Miller bought two tickets for the Dec. 7 drawing. They were purchased from Cargo Oil in Bluewell.
