Charleston Resident Wins $25,000 Playing the West Virginia Lottery


Charleston, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced Thursday that Christopher Slater of Charleston has won $25,000 playing the two-dollar $25 GRAND instant scratch off game.

“My wife and I were celebrating our seventh anniversary and it was amazing to have this happen,” Slater said. “Wow, what a great present. We could not believe it.”

Slater says he bought several West Virginia Lottery instant tickets when he received the pleasant surprise. He plans to use the prize money to help pay off his truck and take care of medical expenses among other things.

He purchased the winning ticket at Little General Store #4090 on MacCorkle Avenue in Charleston.

There are still several chances to win big prizes with our Anniversary Instant Scratch-off games.  One top prize of $250,000 and four prizes of $25,000 with the Lottery’s special $25 ticket SILVER SPECTACULAR still remain. Players have a chance to win $1.6 million instantly on this ticket. Also, there is $606,000 in total prizes remaining for the $1 ticket FAST $25. Both tickets will remain on sale through June 20, 2011.

The final Grand Prize drawing for the 25th Anniversary 2nd Chance will be held on June 21, 2011, where 64 winners will claim a total of more than $2 Million and one lucky winner will claim a $1 Million cash prize!
