Buckhannon Resident Wins $50,000 Instantly

HARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that Latasha Goodwin of Buckhannon has won $50,000 playing the West Virginia Lottery’s $5 instant game Money Bags.

Goodwin was playing the lottery for only the second time when she hit the grand prize on the Money Bags game. She purchased the winning ticket at Cooks Tavern Restaurant in Buckhannon.

“I turned 18 in July and I played an instant game one time and did not win, so this time I decided to buy a different ticket,” Goodwin said. “I only bought the one ticket and when I scratched the bottom of it off I was shocked and started shaking.”

Goodwin says she has not yet decided what she will do with her winnings, but that a good portion of it will go to savings.

“I am going to put most of it back in savings and maybe take a nice trip to the beach.”

Two $50,000 winners and a total of nearly $1 million in unclaimed prizes still remain in the West Virginia Lottery’s Money Bags game.
