The West Virginia Lottery and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. Launch “Dream Big” Powerball® Promotion in C

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John C. Musgrave announced today that the Lottery will sponsor Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., in concert at the State Fair of West Virginia on Sunday, August 12, 2012 and will launch a special “Dream Big” Powerball promotion in conjunction with the event.

“We are excited to be the presenting sponsor of Landau’s performance, and our long-term partnership with the State Fair has provided us with another unique opportunity,” Musgrave said. “Landau is a Logan native that has won the hearts of fans across the country and made West Virginians proud of his accomplishments. He is also a caring individual that has dedicated significant time over the last year to helping his fellow West Virginians.  We cannot be more pleased to team up with him and offer the chance for five lucky individuals a chance at cash prizes on stage with him at the State Fair.”

Each year the West Virginia Lottery participates in the West Virginia State Fair as both a vendor and a sponsor of one of the Fair’s feature events.  In fact, the State Fair is the No.1 Lottery sales agent in West Virginia for the month of August each year.

This year, as part of West Virginia Lottery Day at the State Fair, the Lottery will be sponsoring Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr. in concert live at 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012.  Tickets for the concert go on sale at the State Fair’s website at www.statefairofwv.com at 10 a.m. Thursday.  Ticket prices range from $12 to $18.

“I'm excited to give our fans the chance to Dream Big and win big, just like I did on America's Got Talent, with the help of the West Virginia Lottery,” Murphy said. “It's going to be so much fun giving away that money to the winners during our show at the West Virginia State Fair.  And, I appreciate that the West Virginia Lottery helps fund education, senior programs and tourism right here in the Mountain State, which I'm proud to call home.”

In conjunction with this sponsorship, the Lottery is teaming up with Landau in a special “Dream Big” promotion that will give five lucky West Virginia Lottery players the opportunity to do a meet and greet with Landau before the concert at the Fair, as well as the chance to win cash prizes of up to $10,000 in a special drawing on stage at the concert.

Beginning June 10 and ending on July 22, West Virginia Lottery players who make a minimum $10 Powerball purchase (5 plays or more on a single ticket), are eligible to mail in any non-winning tickets to the “Dream Big” address to enter this limited time promotion.

Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., has become a household name since winning America’s Got Talent last September and in the process has captured people’s imagination across the country, but no more so than here in his home state. The Logan native has catapulted himself into the national spotlight and despite the new found fame has not forgotten his roots, dedicating a great deal of time to helping others and serving as an outstanding ambassador for the state.

The West Virginia Lottery has provided more than $6.2 billion in proceeds to benefit education, seniors and tourism in West Virginia since 1986.
