Charleston Resident Wins $30,000 Instantly; Two Others Claim $10,000 Powerball® Prizes

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Virginia Lottery Director John Musgrave announced today that John Townson of Charleston has won $30,000 playing the $3 instant scratch off game Money Bag Slingo.

“It takes your breath,” Townson said as he claimed his winnings at lottery headquarters in Charleston.

Townson purchased the winning ticket at the Prima 7-11 #5534 on Teays Valley Road in Hurricane and he says he plans to use the winnings to pay off some bills.

The West Virginia Lottery has had several significant prizes claimed in recent days. In addition to Townson’s $30,000 win, Delvin Knotts of Parsons claimed a $10,000 Powerball® prize on Thursday, while Jennifer Wriston of Mt. Hope claimed a $10,000 Powerball® Prize on Wednesday.

Knotts purchased his ticket at the Parsons Shop & Save on Main Street in Parsons, and Wriston purchased her ticket at Go Mart #87 on Maple Ford Road in Mt. Hope.
