“big Daddy” Wins Big: Two Top Cash25 Prizes In One Drawing

Richard “Big Daddy” Bailey, of St. Albans was true to his name in the WV Lottery’s Cash25 drawing May 10.

Using random family birth dates and anniversaries, the retired 32-year employee of the WV Dept. of Highways won not one, but two top $25,000 prizes, according to WV Lottery Director John Musgrave.

Claiming his combined $50,000 prize at the Lottery’s headquarters in Charleston today, Bailey said he and his wife Sparkle have two grown sons and an infant grandson. “We already have a loan for a metal roof and stove. This will pay that off and if she be nice, I’ll take Sparkle on a vacation to wherever she wants. My guess is that she’ll probably want to visit her sisters in California.”

Bailey said he spent $10 on tickets for the drawing; they were bought at Go Mart and Joe’s Mart, both in St. Albans.
