Give and Win Food Drive, Nov. 16-22

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – More than 400 West Virginia Lottery retailers are participating in the West Virginia Lottery’s week-long Give and Win Food Drive that begins Monday, Nov. 16. The annual Give and Win Food Drive began in 2006 and is designed to assist local food banks across West Virginia by allowing local stores to select the food pantry of their choice to support and rewarding those who donate food with the opportunity to win free lottery tickets.

“We are grateful to the more than 400 retailers across West Virginia who have partnered with us this year in the Give and Win Food Drive,” Acting Lottery Director John Myers said. “It is our sincere hope that this initiative encourages food donations that will make a difference in the battle against hunger on a local level.”

Individuals who donate five (5) non-perishable food items at a participating store between Monday, November 16 and Sunday, November 22 will receive one entry into a drawing for a chance to win one of three packs of 100 lottery promotional instant tickets that will be given away at each participating location on Monday, November 23.

Each of the 441 participating store is responsible for the distribution of entry slips and conducting the second chance drawing. Each store is also responsible for delivering all donated food items to the charity they have designated.

All donated food items will be checked and expired food will not be accepted. Individuals may receive additional entries per every five food items donated, however only one prize per drawing per individual will be allowed. This guarantees that three different food donors will win the 100 tickets at each store.

A complete county-by-county list of participating retailers, and the food banks they have selected to support, is available online at www.wvlottery.com. In addition, signs that designate the charity or food bank that will benefit from food donations made at that location will be posted in each store.
